Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association is the trade association for motor vehicle and mobility suppliers and parts manufacturers and remanufacturers. Our members supply both the original equipment and aftermarket segments of passenger cars, light trucks and commercial vehicles (on- and off-road) industries. MEMA serves the industry as the voice of the motor vehicle and mobility supplier industry, speaking out on behalf of the largest manufacturing sector in the United States.
Uniting Business. Advancing Kentucky. From its beginnings more than 60 years ago, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has evolved into the premier business association in the state. Today, the Kentucky Chamber represents 2,700 member businesses – from family-owned shops to Fortune 500 companies – that employ over half of the Commonwealth`s workforce. In 2011, the Chamber was awarded the status of being an Accredited State Chamber by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Kentucky Chamber`s powerful grassroots network, through a partnership with more than 80 local chambers in the state, consists of 25,000 professionals. Strength in numbers continues to help the Chamber influence policymakers in areas such as business taxation and fiscal policy, environmental and safety issues and workers` compensation, health care and education reform. Our mission is not always easy, but the Kentucky Chamber continues to provide leadership as a catalyst, consensus-builder and advocate to unite business and advance Kentucky.
The Texas Municipal League exists solely to provide services to Texas cities. Since the first day of its existence, the League`s mission has remained the same: to serve the needs and advocate the interests of cities and city officials. Indeed, the TML Constitution states that the purpose of the League is "to render services which individual cities have neither time, money nor strength to do alone." Today, more than 1,120 Texas cities are members of the Texas Municipal League. The League is governed by a Board of Directors. The League`s Executive Committee, which is empowered to take any actions that may arise between meetings of the full TML Board, includes the president, the president-elect, the past presidents, two other Board members appointed by the president and the Executive Director. The Board appoints an Executive Director to manage the affairs of the League under the Board`s general direction. Today, the League employs a staff of 30 and is organized into six departments: Membership Services, Administrative Services, Legal Services, Legislative Services, Affiliate Services, and Conferences and Training.
The New York State Historical Association was founded in 1899 by New Yorkers who were interested in promoting greater knowledge of the early history of the state. They hoped to encourage original research, to educate general audiences by means of lectures and publications, to mark places of historic interest with tablets or signs, and to start a library and museum to hold manuscripts, paintings, and objects associated with the history of the state. It was an ambitious undertaking proposed by the founders when they held their first official meeting on March 21, 1899, in the village of Lake George. But time has justified their optimism and the Association has grown dramatically during the intervening century into a successful and multifaceted institution. In 1926, Horace Moses, another New Yorker interested in the history of the state, donated a permanent home in Ticonderoga, New York for the Association. The structure was a replica of John Hancock`s famous house in Boston. In addition to Hancock House, Moses also gave a separate endowment to help run the Association. In 1939 Stephen Carlton Clark offered the Association a new home in the village of Cooperstown. Clark, an avid collector, took an active interest in expanding the holdings of the Association and in 1944 donated Fenimore House, one of his family`s properties, to be used as a new headquarters and museum. The impressive neo-Georgian structure was built in the 1930s on the site of James Fenimore Cooper`s early 19th century farmhouse on the shore of Otsego Lake, Cooper`s Glimmerglass. Fenimore House was large enough to have both extensive exhibition galleries as well as office and library space. The collections and programs continued to expand and a separate library building was constructed in 1968. In 1995 a new 18,000 square foot wing was added to Fenimore House to house the Eugene and Clare Thaw Collection which is one of the nation`s premier collections of American Indian Art. In 1999 in recognition of our world class collections we changed the name Fenimore House Museum to Fenimore Art Museum. The New York State Historical Association is a private, non-governmental educational organization. It is closely affiliated with its sister organization, The Farmers` Museum.
