Washington in 1881, Tuskegee University is known not only for being among the nation`s premier historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), but for its openness to all. An independent and state-related institution of higher education, TU is Alabama`s only private land-grant university. Its programs serve a student body numbering more than 3,000 students that is coeducational as well as racially, ethnically and religiously diverse. With a strong orientation toward disciplines that highlight the relationship between education and workforce preparation in the sciences, professions and technical areas, Tuskegee University also emphasizes the importance of the liberal arts as a foundation for successful careers in all areas. Academic instruction occurs in five colleges and three schools: the Andrew F. Brimmer College of Business & Information Science; College of Agriculture, Environment & Nutrition Sciences; College of Arts & Sciences; College of Engineering; College of Veterinary Medicine; Robert R.
