The Department of Management Services (DMS) is the business arm of Florida government. The Department`s primary mission is to support sister agencies as well as current and former state employees with workforce and business-related functions so that agencies can focus on their core missions as defined in law. The Department of Management Services was created in 1993 after the Departments of Administration and General Services merged. This new agency was formed to improve services and reduce administrative overhead. Throughout the entire department, staff pride themselves on providing effective customer service, delivering on our agency obligations and lowering the cost of government through innovation and new efficiencies.
As the largest provider of public transportation in San Diego County, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is committed to providing exceptional service to the people of the San Diego region. Our fleet of compressed natural gas buses and electric Trolleys allow MTS to be one of the greenest companies in San Diego. As our region continues to grow, there will be a greater dependence on public transportation to help achieve mobility goals. MTS is adding three new Bus Rapid Transit lines to provide high-speed, limited-stop bus service to SDSU, Otay Mesa, Rancho Bernardo and Escondido. And plans are progressing to expand the Trolley 11 miles from Old Town to UCSD and University Town Center. Office of Personnel Management`s history begins with the Civil Service Act, signed in 1883, ending the spoils system and establishing the Civil Service Commission. The Commission, led by the energetic Teddy Roosevelt, laid the foundations of an impartial, professional civil service based on the merit principle – that employees should be judged only on how well they can do the job. In 1978, the Civil Service Commission was reorganized into three new organizations: the Office of Personnel Management, the Merit Systems Protection Board, and the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Each of these new organizations took over a portion of the Civil Service Commission’s responsibilities, with OPM responsible for personnel management of the civil service of the Government.
